Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Barry’s Best’

Already growing in the property purchased by Heritage Hydrangeas in 2002.  Perhaps this was the inspiration for the collection.

H. macro 'Barry's Best' A Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Barry’s Best’ is a vigorous and floriferous shrub with amazing rich blue flowers. A large shrub growing up to 2 metres.

Inflorescence: Large mophead corymb, 200mm across, with flower centres pale green when young, aging to deep blue.

Colour in neutral soil:                           Purple
Colour in acidic soil with Al present:     Deep blue

Ray florets: 4 to 5 sepals, serrated, overlapping, 50mm diam.

 Zones: 6 to 9
Size: Large (to 2m).

 Leaves: Simple, opposite and deciduous.  Broadly ovate to broadly elliptic.  Margin: serrate.  Apex: apiculate.  Base: attenuate.  Venation pattern: pinnate.  Texture of adaxial and abaxial surfaces: smooth, glabrous, moderately glossy. 150mm l x 110mm w.
