Hydrangea macrophylla ssp. serrata ‘Kiyosumi’

Discovered on Mount Kiyosumi, Chiba province, Japan. Bred by Yasaka Hayasha, Japan, in 1950.

kiyosumi main Hydrangea serrata ‘Kiyosumi’ is a small plant, rarely achieving 1m in height.

Inflorescence: Lacecap, 104mm across, with purple fertile flowers surrounded irregularly with two-tone ray florets.

Colour in neutral soil:      White and red ray florets, purple fertile flowers.
Colour in acidic soil with Al present:    White and red ray florets, purple fertile flowers (no change)
