Hydrangea macrophylla 'Masja'


Hydrangea macrophylla 'Masja' displays perfectly rounded mophead flowerheads on a compact shrub.

Inflorescence: Mophead, up to 170mm across, vivid red or rich blue-purple in acidic soils.

Bred by August Steiniger, Germany. Awarded Gold Medal at Flora Nova Show of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society in 1976.

Zones: 5 to 9

Size: Small (to 1m).

Vivid red.

Color in acidic soil with AI present:
Rich purple.

Ray florets: 3 to 4 sepals, serrated, overlapping, 70mm diam. Some ray florets will develop male flowers.
