Hydrangea macrophylla Sensation

 

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Sensation’ is a slow growing shrub with ‘sensational’ bicoloured flowers.

Inflorescence: Mophead, 130mm across, with bicolured florets.


Not to be confused with H. m. ‘Sensation 75’ or H. m. ‘Red Sensation’.

Bred by Henri Cayeux, France in 1938

Ray florets: 4 or 5 sepals, rounded, almost entire, overlapping, 55mm diam.

Leaves: Simple, opposite and deciduous. Broadly ovate to broadly elliptic. Margin: serrate. Apex: apiculate. Base: attenuate. Venation pattern: pinnate. Texture of adaxial and abaxial surfaces: smooth, glabrous, moderately glossy. 110mm l x 85mm w.
