Hydrangea macrophylla ssp. serrata 'Diadem'

Hydrangea serrata ‘Diadem’ is an early flowering lacecap which reliably breaks into flower by the end of May in our BC lower mainland gardens (zone 8).

Inflorescence: Irregularly-shaped lacecap, 70mm diam. Suitable for growing in pots.


Bred by Michael Haworth-Booth, UK, circa 1950.

Synonym: H. s. ‘Hoshikuzu’. Other possible synonyms include H. s. 'Hidcote Pink/Blue' and H. s. 'Koreana'.


Zones: 6 to 9

Size: Small (to 1m).
